Artcam Pro 9.1 has many features and tools that can help you create stunning designs for CNC machines. You can import and export various file formats, such as DXF, STL, BMP, JPG, etc. You can also create 2D vectors and 3D reliefs from images, texts, or drawings. You can edit, transform, and combine your vectors and reliefs using various tools, such as shape editor, blend tool, offset tool, etc. You can also apply different types of machining strategies to your models, such as engraving, v-carving, profile cutting, pocketing, etc. You can preview and simulate your toolpaths before sending them to your CNC machine.
In this article, I will show you some examples of how to use Artcam Pro 9.1 to create 2D and 3D models for CNC machines. You can follow along with me or try your own ideas. Let's get started.
Example 1: Creating a 2D vector from an image
In this example, I will show you how to create a 2D vector from an image of a flower. You can use any image you like, but make sure it has good contrast and resolution. Here are the steps:
Open Artcam Pro 9.1 and create a new model. Choose the size and resolution of your model according to your CNC machine and material.
Import the image of the flower by clicking on File > Import > Bitmap. Browse to the location of your image and click Open.
The image will appear on your model. You can resize and position it as you like.
To create a vector from the image, click on Bitmaps > Create Vectors from Selected Bitmaps. A dialog box will appear with various options for vectorization.
Choose the option that suits your image best. For example, if your image has only two colors, you can choose Two Color. If your image has more colors, you can choose Color Quantization or Outline Trace.
Adjust the parameters of the vectorization according to your preference. For example, you can change the number of colors, the tolerance, the smoothing, etc.
Click on Apply to see the preview of the vector. If you are satisfied with the result, click on OK. If not, you can go back and change the parameters until you get the desired result.
The vector will be created on your model. You can edit it further using the vector tools, such as node editing, welding, trimming, etc. ec8f644aee
