Tim Dog: The BX Warrior Who Invented Hip Hop
Tim Dog was a legendary rapper from the Bronx, New York, who is best known for his 1991 diss track "Fuck Compton", which sparked a feud with the West Coast rap scene. He was also a member of the influential group Ultramagnetic MCs, along with Kool Keith and Ced Gee.
In 2006, Tim Dog released his third and final solo album, BX Warrior, which was a tribute to his hometown and its hip hop legacy. The album was produced by Dr. Zygote & Jazz T (from Diversion Tactics), Moe Love (from Ultramagnetic MCs), Ollie Twist, and Tim Dog himself. It featured tracks such as "BX Warrior", "From BX", "BX We Invented Hip Hop", and "Original Dog".
The album showcased Tim Dog's aggressive and uncompromising style, as he rapped about his rap career, his beefs with other rappers, his love for hip hop culture, and his social commentary on the state of the world. He also collaborated with his Ultramagnetic MCs comrades on two tracks, "Love 4 Us" and "Mind Games".
BX Warrior was Tim Dog's last musical output before his death in 2013 from complications of diabetes. He left behind a legacy of being one of the most fearless and outspoken rappers in hip hop history, who never backed down from a challenge or a controversy. He was a true BX warrior who invented hip hop.

Tim Dog's death, however, was shrouded in mystery and controversy. His funeral was canceled and no death certificate or autopsy existed. His family also stayed away from the media claiming religious reasons as a justification for their shunning of the press and wanting to mourn in private. Some of his victims, who accused him of scamming them out of thousands of dollars in online dating schemes, suspected that he had faked his death to avoid paying restitution and facing legal consequences. A warrant was issued for his arrest in Mississippi, where he had pleaded guilty to grand larceny in 2011.
But after more than a year of speculation and investigation, it was finally confirmed by NBC News that Tim Dog had indeed died on February 14, 2013, as had been initially reported, but then disputed. A death certificate was filed in DeKalb County, Georgia, putting an end to the rumors that he was still alive and hiding from his creditors and the law. The death certificate stated that he died of a seizure disorder due to complications from diabetes mellitus type II. It also listed his occupation as "rap artist".
Tim Dog's legacy remains a complex one. On one hand, he was a pioneer of hardcore hip hop and a fearless provocateur who challenged the dominance of the West Coast rap scene and defended the honor of his native Bronx. On the other hand, he was a notorious con artist who preyed on vulnerable women and exploited their trust and emotions for his own gain. He was a BX warrior who invented hip hop, but also a fraudster who tarnished his reputation.
