A great blender should be able to smoothly process tough items like fibrous kale, frozen berries, and ice without burning out the motor. How efficiently a blender does this depends on a combination of the blade length and position, the shape of the mixing jar, and the motor strength. All three of those elements combine to create a vortex that pulls food down around the blade.
Senior staff writer Michael Sullivan has used an older version of the Cleanblend at home since 2017 and says he has never had an issue with it. He pulls it out about six times a month to make smoothies, sauces, soup, or occasionally emulsifications like mayonnaise. He has even crushed ice in it a few times, and he says that so far it has never stalled out.

As of July 27, 2017: The answer appears to be yes. The new A3500, the top-of-the line Ascent Series model is almost entirely touchscreen. And it uses the same touchscreen technology as the 780.
When you make purchases using a link to Vitamix.com from our site, you get free shipping and we should earn commissions (at no extra cost to you). That helps support our work and is greatly appreciated.
Every Ascent Series machine includes the all new Simply Blending recipe book that is dark and beautiful and is designed as a \"Lifestyle\" book. The recipe designs are created for many types of lifestyles, whether you're a person who is more \"outdoorsy\" or enjoys recipes in the comfort of their own home with friends. Simply Blending should satisfy the most culinary conscious personality.
First time Vitamix buyers may enjoy the Ascent Series machines right out of the box with no need to adapt to new technology. Owners of Legacy Vitamix machines, such as the Professional Series 750, who are thinking about \"upgrading\" to the Ascent Series should be aware that any accessory containers purchased for their Legacy machines, such as the 32oz Wet or 32oz Dry Grains containers, will not be compatible with the Ascent Series machines.
Who is the Ascent Series currently best suited for Anyone who is ready to move forward with cutting edge technology. This series of Vitamix machines are the way forward for the company, however potential buyers should be aware that moving forward with new technology comes with patience, and certain blending needs may not be satisfied right away which is why the Legacy Series of Vitamix machines may currently be the right products to choose for many people, while they remain in circulation.
The strange thing about these models is that previously Vitamix stated that Next Gen containers should not be used on Classic bases because they do not have the updated airflow design that cools the motor more effectively.
Vitamix warns that you should not blend dry ingredients for longer than 2 minutes because the heat could damage the container. 1 minute to 90 seconds is generally all you need. I further avoid heating by storing the grain in the freezer so it starts the grinding process cold.
I tried grinding granulated white sugar in dry container in my vitamix total nutrition center 3 and it cannot come out to powder sugar consistency. The sugar was more fine but never it could reach powder consistency. Vitamix should not claim it can do powder sugar. Very disapointing. Anybody know a machine that could make granulated sugar into powdered sugar but really like powder not just fine sugar. Because I can still feel the grainyness it is definitely not powdered.
Hi there, I am thinking to get one of the dry container of vitamix a2300i to blend dried turmeric roots that cut into slices. Would you think it will work the same as other grains Turmeric will be stain the container Thanks
One last cost cutting \"feature\" is the warranty is set at 5 years. You may see other Vitamix machines with either 7 year or 10 year warranties, such as the Legacy Series and the new Ascent Series models. While your Vitamix blender should easily outlast these included warranties, the initial length of the warranty may be something to consider when making a purchasing decision.
One of the questions I get asked most often is, \"Which Vitamix is the Best\" Since I use my Vitamix in so many recipes, and firmly stand by my opinion that the Vitamix is the only blender a person should spend any money on, I wanted to take the time to very thoroughly answer that question, and many others that go along with buying a Vitamix.
This will be an important purchase for me. I am 73 on a very limited budget. My home of 44 years burned and I am replacing many appliances and having to size down because of the price of materials and availability. I ground my own corn meal from organic non gmo pop corn. I am also not very technical or computer smart. Which vitamix grounds corn and what attachments do you recommend.I am a bit of a health nut. I fast once a week and do intermittent fasting most days. I did have my own hens for eggs, a garden, and fruit trees until the fire. I am now living in an apartment.Thank you,Vicki
Note: I purchased both of these blenders with my own money and have had no contact with either company (especially not for this review). The links to purchase the blenders are affiliate links, so we will receive a small portion of your purchase if you should choose to shop using our link.
Sorry, I totally disagree. Vitamix is the superior product. I have owned several models of each Blendtec and Vitamix machines. The integrity of the Vitamix machines are far superior to those of Blendtec machines. Blendtec jars/container are also inferior as compared to Vitamix containers. I encourge anyone considering buying a Blendtec or Vitamix blender to actually do a physical comparison of each before purchasing. Those of you who have access to the Consumer Reports website should check out their unbiased blender ratings. Make a note of what machines they recommend before making a decision.
You failed to mention vitamix has a 7 year warranty and the best customer service. Usually they will replace the container and tamper when accidentally broken once for free. Also if you use the tamper, your vitamix will not smoke or shut off. As with any electronic product it comes with instructions, a DVD, and great online resources to those you how to use it. If you read the manual or wondered what the tamper was for, you would know the need to use it for nut butters, frozen fruit, etc.
I have had a vitamix for over 30 years! I have some trouble occasionally with the motor struggling to get the frozen stuff ground but have found if I put in a little at a time instead of dumping all, it handles it much better. Also the store, Sur La Table, has a fabulous silicone spatula just for blenders like the Vitamix. The very end of it is slightly curved so it can scoop anything out from under and around the blades and it is longer than the Vitamix container. And yes, I do not know what I would do without the tamper! I love my Vitamix but was happy you reviewed both as I have heard much about the BlendTec and have been wondering about it.
I did a lot of research before I ended up with a vitamix. Mine has pre programmed settings that I can walk away from while doing other things. Have had no issue so far with any job. I can even make soup in it and it heats it up piping hot. Also has a self-clean setting. Mine is tucked away under the counter for ease. I use it daily. It would be a bit heavy if I had to constantly get it out from a cupboard.
Many of the best blenders are cheaper than Vitamix or Blendtec blenders, and it's also worth considering Nutribullet vs Ninja. However, plenty of home cooks should still consider Vitamix or Blendtec because of their high-quality, durable designs. It's worth investing in either brand if you use a blender every day, as both offer reliable appliances for cooking, puréeing, and crushing ice.
Here at Prima, we sell a lot of Vitamix blenders. Vitamix blenders are high quality blenders geared for commercial or home sales. At Prima, we specifically sell the commercial line of blenders... although they can just as easily be used in a home. It should be noted that the commercial line has a shorter warranty length (3 year instead of the residential 7 year warranty), although this difference in length can largely be attributed to the fact that a commercial machine is designed to withstand multiple uses per day (dozens as opposed to just a handful). Vitamix has revamped their commercial lineup for 2017 but no worries, your favorite blenders are still around, just in a new better form!
Machines that mix come in all shapes and sizes. Some are manual, plastic, and cost $10. Others are commercial steel, can mix 60 quarts of dough at a time, and cost $11,000. As with everything, what you buy will depend on how you need to use it. Blenders are no different. Some people prefer this brand, others prefer that brand. Some want 3 horsepower, others want 2 horsepower (others don't know what they want!). It can be quite confusing knowing what sort of blender you should buy for your bar, restaurant, coffee-shop, or home. Hopefully this blog will shed some light on that.
